Happy Monday All,

Hope you all got to enjoy the lovely Winter’s sunshine yesterday. Really feels like Spring is on it’s way, with all the daffodils and blossoms coming out along with the warmth in the air.

We headed to the market yesterday to get a few days worth of food. Love heading there to stock up on fresh organic vegetables (lots of leafy greens) and a few cauliflowers (made one into a white sauce to go over the vegetables with the Sunday roast we had. Bear loved it, Milly was suspicious!) Bought some Hohepa Greek yoghurt, great for breakfast and snacks (complimented our goat curry on Friday night), along with a couple of organic cheeses, organic grass fed meat, gluten free and no nasties bread (great for sandwiches when on the go). Also picked up a mint plant and purple sprouting brocolli plants which we put in the garden when we got home along with a tray of free range eggs. Oh and had a coffee while enjoying great company with friends while the kids ran around in the open air. Markets, whats not to like about them 🙂

While I was waiting for my coffee, I had a read on a milk container the ingredients (as I do with pretty much everything I buy so I know what I am putting in my body), and here was what was inside:

Water, Almonds (3.5%), Sugar, Sunflower Oil, Maltodextrin (From Corn), Acidity Regulators (340, 332), Stabilisers (418, 415, 410), Sunflower Lecithin, Salt.

For an almond flat white saying no to added sugars, I felt that my so called healthy dairy free flat white was fairly healthy. After seeing this, I personally would avoid this and go for plain organic milk, or better still a dash of cream (I tolerate dairy OK).

I suppose what I am trying to get at is just because you think you are buying healthy, always read the label first as products can be very deceptive. The less ingredients the better, and no coffee really deserves sunflower oil and maltodextrin along with numbers in. Be wise, read the label or ask what is in what you are buying as your body does matter and everything you put in your mouth is either fuelling your genes to health or disease.

Anyway, here’s to good health, longevity and happiness!

Have a great Monday!
