Krystie Millward of Bootcamp Hawkes Bay always says, if you are not prepared to eat it, then it should not be good enough for you to put on your skin. OK so this may be a little extreme for things such as body wash… however what she is getting at is you ideally want to only use the most natural ingredients… nothing made in a lab!

So here goes, Krystie’s favourite 9!

1. Toothpaste

Red Seal Natural SLS Free – Mint flavour.
No sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), fluoride or parabens

2. Shower Gel

My favourite is Weleda Wild Rose (to pamper), Citrus (for a refreshing wash) and Pomegranate (because it smells yummy.. although they all smell yummy)!
Again no SLS or parabens – all natural ingredients

3. Face and Body Moisturizer

Coconut Oil – yep, you only need a small amount, and it works wonders for the skin. The skin also absorbs it into your system so you reap the great benefits of coconut oil. If you do not wish to smell like coconuts, then buy the flavour free one.

4. Deodorant

Thursday Plantation – Tea Tree, The Herb Farm and Crystal Essence – Pomegranate.
All aluminium free and allow your pores to breathe and release toxins. tip: The natural ones work, you may just need to reapply a couple of times during the day!

5. Shampoo

I have tried the very natural ones and most leave my hair feeling wet, so have found a more natural shampoo called Pureology – which doesn’t contain so many toxins and smells yummy!

6. Perfume

The other day I came across Millstream’s cream perfumes. They smell divine and are made of rice bran oil (on the fence about this but much better than the chemicals in normal perfume), and essential oils.

7. Nail polish

While living in London I came across a nail polish with no formaldehyde, toluene, DBP, phthalates, or parabens. Butter London is the brand and they have loads of colours to choose from. We are now fortunate to have it on our shelves in NZ.

8. Mascara

Dr Hauschka volume mascara has natural ingredients and is great for people with sensitive eyes. It applies really well and looks great.

9. Lip Balm

I have many favourite brands however at the moment, I am using Trilogy everything balm. Perfect for both lips and any dry areas!
