As many of you know, Krystie and I are very passionate about real food for health. I believe many are now recognising the importance of good nutrition for health and wellbeing.

BUT good nutrition doesn’t stop with us humans. Dogs are a man’s best friend and what’s good for the goose is good for the gander or what’s good for us is good for our best four legged fur balls

Before I get into this post I want to give a little context. Animals like Us was the birth child of Rob, Jeremy and Craig. Rob was a client of mine and when he told me of the idea, initially I was a little skeptical. There were already some half decent dog food brands on the market and the hurdles and hoops to get through as you can guess are pretty challenging. That said what Rob and his co-founders have achieved is awesome. As far as I am aware there are no other dog foods on the market here in NZ that is as nutritionally, ethically and morally sound.

I tell you all this to be transparent, but know I would never endorse anything I didn’t totally believe in. I get nothing for sharing this, I just think what Animals Like Us are doing ‘is the right thing’

In today’s post i am going to share with you 4 reasons why upgrading your pets food will make a massive difference in both yours and your best buddies life

  •  A happy dog

Don’t you love it when you come home and your dog’s eyes light up when he/she sees you?

A dog that eats well, truly is a happier dog. Real nutritious dog food can eliminate allergies, give your dog more sustained energy, improve digestion and will give your buddy a shiner coat.

  •  A healthier dog

Many dog foods are a chemical shit storm!! They will ultimately make your dog tired and sick. Dogs aren’t designed to consume growth hormones, antibiotics, cheap grains and fillers.

Animals Like Us is free of added sugar, grains, hormones and sources the finest Grass-Fed lamb and venison, sustainable farmed salmon and cage free chicken. It’s high in protein and has a good hit of tripe and offal. Those of you that follow us will know that offal is arguably the most nutrient dense food in the world.

  • For a longer more vitality rich life

If your little buddy doesn’t have to fight the ill effects of slaughterhouse scrap, synthetic additives and antibiotics and eats a diet they are naturally designed to eat, your little buddy will thrive. Your little fluffy pup’s closest relative and ancestor is the grey wolf. It is said the grey wolf (Canis Lupis) has been around for 750,000 years.

His diet just like Animals Like Us was rich in protein to help with muscle mass, abundant in omega 3 & 6 which have been scientifically proven to improve eye health, brain health, reduce inflammation, improve bone and joint health and had plenty of fibre for digestive health.

Both humans and our little four legged friends have only been consuming industrialised grains for 10,000 years. That on the grand scheme is just a blip of time, compared with the 750,000 years of grey wolf. And in the last 10,000 years we have become fatter and sicker than ever. Maybe, just maybe we need to eat what we were designed to eat!

This 5 minute video clip is about the human but everything here holds true in the exact same way for us as it does for our four legged friends

  • Because it’s doing the right thing

I truly believe that we vote with our dollar and what better way to vote than to give your best friend the right nutrition. Animals like Us isn’t just about good food, it’s about good practice too. Animals Like Us was born in NZ and is made in NZ. They work with ethical farms who maintain high standards and are part of the plastic recycling scheme.

Oakey (our beautiful Hunterway) LOVES this brand. Oakey is VERY fussy, and will go hungry for a day if he is served up food he doesn’t like (not your usual dog). Even some of the finest food out there he has turned his nose up at, however he can not get enough of this brand. The proof is in the pudding. Give it a go for your dog and see for yourself.

Paul “woof woof” and Krystie “whoops, not for human consumption” and Oakey “maybe I should look at dog modelling” Miller
