Happy Monday! Hope you all had a lovely weekend and enjoyed the very warm weekend! Saturday was filled with friends and food, and Sunday was a more relaxed day, walks, gardening, and a beach swim.

On to today’s newsletter – Life doesn’t always go according to plan

Quite opposite, life doesn’t have a set course or a plan. That moment when you think you have all your shit together and bam a huge wave comes and throws you over.

I kind of think life is a little like the waves. The waves tend to follow a general pattern so that we can predict them and prepare to surf them. BUT at any moment the tides can turn when we least expect them to

So, how do we make sure we don’t lose ourselves to a rogue wave ?

The key is to stay grounded, be flexible and change course when the circumstances call for it.

Daily non-negotiables

In order to stay grounded and have the ability to surf the waves of life we need a surfboard. Not a literal surfboard but a centering force that will keep us afloat. This centering force is what I consider everyday non-negotiables.

These everyday non-negotiables are what turn our ‘’shoulds’’ into ‘’musts.’’ They are the things we need to prioritise to keep our mental and physical wellbeing in peak condition in order for us to ride those rogue waves of life.

In order to ride a surfboard you need to be grounded, steady and give yourself a nourishing sense of balance. Here are the non-negotiables health and wellbeing N.Ns that make up my surfboard

  • At least 1 hour of fresh air and sunlight everyday
  • 10,000 steps
  • 10 minutes of mobility work
  • 5 minutes of meditation
  • 30-60 minutes of training
  • At least 20 minutes of reading
  • At least 7 hours of sleeping
  • 4 healthy meals

So, there you have it. These are my daily ‘’musts’’ that keep me riding the waves of life irrespective of what is thrown at me

How about you. What are some of your daily NNs
