Happy Monday!

Hope you all had a great weekend. I headed to the Farmers Market on Sunday morning and purchased a selection of vegetable plants which I was busy planting in the afternoon. Nothing better than heading out to the garden to pick fresh vegetables for the dinner.

Anyway, on to the newsletter:

Have you ever heard of a Vagus Nerve? It is a crucial part of our nervous system. It connects the brain to the eyes, ears, heart, lungs, digestive system and reproductive system, enabling the brain to control a broad range of functions from gut motility, heart rate and blood pressure, to blood glucose balance, saliva production and bladder control.

Stimulating the vagus nerve has been used by doctors to treat epilepsy and depression, and there is emerging evidence for helping those suffering with many inflammatory health conditions including anxiety, alzheimers and autoimmune.

So how do we stimulate ours naturally. Gargling. Grab yourself a glass of water every morning and gargle away until your eyes start watering. This helps contract the muscles in the back of your throat which then activates your vagus nerve and also stimulates digestion.

Give it a go for a week and see how you feel?

Happy Gargling
