Meet Our New Trainer – Laurence Taylor
I’m excited to introduce the newest member of our coaching team.. Laurence Taylor. A fellow Englishman, Laurence brings with him a unique combination of expertise and heart.
By trade, Laurence is both a paramedic and a personal trainer.. a blend that gives him a rare perspective on health, movement, and what it truly means to stay well. Through his work as a paramedic, he’s seen the real-world consequences of poor mobility and strength with falls and fractures being all too common. These experiences have deeply shaped his approach to training.
Laurence is a big believer in functional fitness, with a strong emphasis on longevity, prevention, and living well for the long haul. His training philosophy aligns beautifully with ours.. it’s about building strength that serves you in everyday life, not just in the gym.
In the short time I’ve known him, I’ve been genuinely impressed by Laurence’s depth of knowledge, his thoughtful approach to movement and rehab, and his compassion for every client he works with. He’s not only technically sharp but also one of those all-round good humans you just enjoy being around.
I’m confident that Laurence will be a huge asset to our team and an incredible support for anyone looking to move better, feel stronger, and stay healthy for years to come.
Please join me in giving him a very warm welcome.
- What is your favourite kind of workout?
Some sort of concoction of;
A group of friends, kettlebells & barbells (and bonus points for doing it outside)
- Who are your hero’s?
My wife, Laura – she works relentlessly hard, always with a smile on her face
- Who are your villains?
Mosquitos!
- Breakfast of champions?
Porridge with all the trimmings + coffee
(But if I’m on death row, I couldn’t deny a full English fry-up, with a Weetabix chaser for good measure)
- Ultimate stress buster?
Getting outdoors, fresh air in the lungs.
For me it is ideally at the beach/in the sea. For a surf or a swim but even just feeling the sand beneath my feet does wonders to a busy head!
- Theme tune?
Neil Young – Harvest Moon
- Essential snack?
Banana – Always need an emergency banana in close range
- Quote to live by?
Memento Mori
- Top restaurant?
It would be a hard fight between Vinci’s & Allesandro’s for top spot
- Desert Island item?
It would be hard to forget the emergency banana, but a knife would probably take top spot.
- The Results fitness way in three words?
Fun, Strong, Welcoming
- What’s the bravest thing you have done?
Probably packing-up our lives in Cornwall, UK and moving to NZ.
- How do you stay on track when you travel?
Keep active. I love all things outdoors, and at the moment most of the travel-stuff is based around some sort of outdoor pursuit, so that makes it fairly easy.
But for a more traditional holiday, I’d say the key for me is to allow time to enjoy the holiday, appreciate the re-charge and keep active (for the joy of it, rather than nailing any sort of goals).
- What’s your greatest achievement?
In life – Marrying my wife (I regularly high-5 my younger self for this feat)
In sport – Cycling from Bari (southern Italy) to Barry Island (Wales, UK), 1600miles in 15days.
We completed the challenge for charity, but to be honest the main driver was that cycling from ‘Barry to Barry’ sounded mildly funny.
- Favourite cheat meal?
An offensively large bowl of cereal. It’s not glamorous, but it is glorious.
- What does Health mean to you?
Great question.
Health is always relative and I think it represents being able.
Able in a physical, emotional and social sense.
So more succinctly; to me health means to be physically, emotionally and mentally able to do what you need to do, and importantly, what you want to do.
- What’s your current workout schedule ?
Right now I’m training for my first Ironman Triathlon, so my training is a bit chaotic. A standard week looks something like –
2-3x Strength sessions
2x swim sessions
1-2x runs
1x Ride
1x CrossFit
