Happy Monday

I am often asked ‘if you could only pick one exercise to do for the rest of your life’ what would it be?

Though I think this question is a little absurd because no one will ever be in this position I thought I might just make a little game of it.

So in today’s post I am going to pick one of everything and give you a short rationale as to why.

If I could only pick one Exercise

For me it would be the deadlift as nothing gets more functional than the deadlift. What I mean by functional is task specific and what I mean by task specific is that we pick stuff up from the ground everyday. It may be picking up your kids or picking up their bloody toys or picking up my phone that I just dropped. Deadlifting primes your pattern for picking stuff up from the ground better….and not injuring your back whilst doing it!

If I could only pick one Health Book

The book I would pick would probably be ‘The Fourfold Path to Healing’ by Thomas Cowan. This book is definitely for the alternative bunch, essentially Dr Cowan merges wisdom from traditional societies, modern findings of Western medicine and the esoteric teachings of the ancients to create a wonderful book about therapeutics, movement, and meditation in the art of medicine.

If I could only pick one Protein

There are way too many tasty proteins to limit myself to just one so I am basing this purely on great flavour and nutrient density. Chicken liver, it tastes great, is filling and is one of the most nutrient dense foods on the planet.

If you haven’t tried Hapi’s Chicken Liver Pate then you’re missing out

If I could only pick one Supplement

Magnesium would be it. I think everyone would do well to be on a Magnesium. It is involved in hundreds of biochemical reactions in the body. Some benefits include preventing asthma, boosting energy, keeping bones healthy, relieving cramps, protecting the heart, helping you sleep and so much more.

If I could only pick one piece of Fitness Equipment

It would be the kettlebell. The kettlebell is so versatile, you can press it, pull it, squat, hinge, and carry it. It can be used as a strength tool and a cardiovascular tool.

If I could only pick one Drink

It would have to be an Artesian water.. Coffee is a close second 🙂

Artesian water has essential minerals and nutrients like magnesium, potassium, and sodium. Minerals are important for nearly every function in your body, especially your adrenals.

If I could only pick one Coffee

Seeing that this is my game I thought I would include coffee 🙂 There are so many good coffee’s but I do miss a good English Monmouth Coffee. If you’re ever in London and want a good coffee then yes the 45 minute wait is well worth it.

If I could only pick one Chocolate

Rapunzel Organic Swiss Chocolate is made with the finest organic ingredients. A sophisticated dark, rich flavored chocolate. This strong, smooth chocolate melts in the mouth. And with each delicious bite you help support the farmers through a Hand in Hand Fair Trade Program

If I could only pick one Health Blog

Of course it would be mine… just kidding. I think Mark Sissons from Mark’s Daily Apple is a great writer and blogger.

Mark Sissons is a 63 year old that is in great shape. He was really at the forefront in bringing the Paleo/Primal movement to the masses.

If I could only pick one Health Movie

Fat Head would be it. Fat Head is kind of a comedy follow up on Super Size Me and while most people saw the documentary Super Size Me as an exposure of the fast food industry, comedian and former health writer Tom Naughton saw it as a dare: He’d show that you could lose weight on a diet of burgers and cheese.

Here is the link to it

That’s it for today

So, what would your ‘one’s be ?
