What Inspires Me!!

Happy Monday People

I hope you all had a lovely weekend

Before I get into this weeks newsletter I just wanted to say congratulations and great job Bridget for running the Hawkes Bay Marathon and raising some much needed money for KidsCan 🙂

Recently I was asked the question -  ‘ what/who inspires you to train?’

Honestly there's so much, that said, I thought I would put a little series together of the people who inspire me in the world of fitness.

There is an underlying theme to all the stories I am going to share. These people never gave up in spite of massive adversity and they had a purpose greater than their own.

We must be willing to let go of the life we had planned, as to have the life that is waiting for us - Joseph Campbell - The Hero’s Journey

For my first post I thought I would share a short story about the Hoyt family

The Hoyts had competed in over 1,130 endurance events, including 72 marathons and seven Ironman triathlons. They had run the Boston Marathon 32 times. Also adding to their list of achievements, Dick and Rick biked and ran across the U.S. in 1992, completing a full 3,735 miles in 45 days.

What makes these achievements even more special is that Dick and Rick are not your average athletes

As a father I admit I get a little choked up when I see one of their videos.

In the words of Dick Hoyt

Yes you can. You can do anything you want to do as long as you make up your mind. You can do it.

That’s it for today
